I’ve been busy with work and life lately, and have gotten a little lazy about updating this blog- but have so many updates on the delicious things I’ve been doing lately!
Mostly, I’ve been enjoying the Indian Summer in ess eff and spending time outside. I kicked off Indian summer however, by making a long overdue trip to LA, one of my favorite eating destinations.
M* and I drove down the hellish 5 and sat in parking lot traffic for hours. When we arrived, we were met with a heat wave- my sisters said it had been the hottest it had been ALL YEAR.
So we went to some beaches:
Manhattan beach.
Malibu
Venice.
And we ate! Despite the fact that so many people in LA are struggling actors, models, etc, and don’t eat a whole lot of anything, I’m always impressed with the sheer variety and diversity of eating options the City of Angels offers.
First goal for the weekend- trying some *real Mexican food. Sorry norcal- you just can’t compete with the true mexicano offerings that East Los, Echo Park, and Downtown offer. We tried some of the most delicious tacos ever at Guisados in the rapidly gentrifying Echo Park. M*and I got the sampler platter, which was a steal at $6.99 for 7 mini tacos. My favorite was the chicken mole, and carne.
The tortillas were home made just like an abuelita would have made them, and the only other patrons were Mexican families so we knew we had come to the right place.
For dinner, we tried an old favorite of mine from back when I used to live in LA- Cafe Brazil! Apparently David Beckham ate there once.
I had a simple rice, chicken and beans plate, and we ate some soft shell crab as well.
To work it all off the next day, M* and I did a 16 mile bike ride up and down the beachfront from Santa Monica to Marina Del Ray and I soaked up some of those so cal rays I don’t often see up in ess Eff.
