Today, I got treated to yet another birthday brunch, despite the fact that August is almost over!
M* suggested we meet up and I picked Little Griddle because I heard the breakfast there was cheap and delicious.
I reflected on the fact, that as I’ve entered my early* thirties, a number of things have changed, some positive, and some negative. And some things have remained the same.
#1. I have an addictive nature. Though nowadays- my vice of choice is coffee, sometimes 3 cups in a morning.
#2 . My favorite tastes these days: Salty, and Bitter. Right in line with my winning personality.
So after the coffee, I ordered a “Weekend Recovery”. It wasn’t bitter, but it was certainly salty. It was a delicious mess of scrambled eggs, apple smoked bacon, avocado, and pepper jack cheese gloriously melded together between two pieces of sourdough toast, dripping with butter.
#3. My tolerance for BS and asinine people has plummeted. So has my metabolism, particularly for carb laden foods.
In spite of this, I ate a huge portion of M*’s French Toast. It was rich and eggy and covered with a ton of strawberries, bananas, and maple syrup.
#4. I haven’t lost my taste for newness- new places, new people, new neighborhoods, new restaurants, new everything.
Which is probably why my life is in a constant state of flux- but there’s never a dull moment, and everyday there is a new thing or place I try to explore.
